Parshas Vayeira (5779)

by Mordechai Dolinsky

18:10,12– Sara heard from strangers that she would be blessed with a child.  The impression on her was not taken seriously enough.  Min HaShomayim she was critisised and Hashem wasn’t pleased with her reaction.

From travelers she should accept?  We answer she still should have had the emuna.  But she surely did; what waw expected of her, the mother of Klal Yisroel, she should feel that every second Hashem gives life and new conditions and inspires new life and of course she will have a new baby.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

Parshas Lech Lecha (5779)

17:7-8—There is something in our parsha that has tremendous significance and meaning and consequence and the full impact is not appreciated.  We have here the parsha of great ברית  , with Hashem declaring the following.  With you fulfilling your  commitment Mine shall be, להיות לך לאלוקים.  First we must understand how is this a special item?  Isn’t the presence of אלוקים  a constant, and one of the most vital and basic foundations of the truth of our belief?  “השם אלוקינו השם אחד”.

We must say that this is an additional revelation and השפעה of the manifestation of אלוקות.  This can be realized in many ways.  Hashem ties this additional connection with Him together with being the gift of being in Eretz Yisroel.  Hashem’s commitment of His part of the ברית is only pertinent in Eretz Yisroel and thus the extra gift of אלוקות does not pertain to חוץ לארץ.  Thus it comes out a very clear and obvious understanding of the Chazal that those who dwell inחוץ לארץ are missing “אלוקות”.

May Hashem bless us to have clarity and an insight to His Chazal.

Parshas Noach (5779)

by Mordechai Dolinsky

7:7 Rashi brings that Noach reflected doubt regarding the coming of the storm by the fact that he was pushed into the Taiva by the force of the rain.  The obvious difficulty is it impossible to relate to any doubt that Noach could have had.

Perhaps…. Noach really knew how low and wicked the world had fallen and understood and accepted Hashem’s decree.  Nevertheless he understood the tremendous churban, how awful the destruction was going to be.  Noach was saying–they deserved it; You decreed it; but it is awful.  Hashem-You are not going to do it–You said you would but You are really not, even though they deserve it.  It was a hope…. it was a hope.

Have a wonderful and inspiring Shabbos.

Parshas  Bereishis (5779)

by Mordechai Dolinsky

1:7  On the second day the rakiya was  created, Rashi explains it was really started on the first, but it had to dry which occurred on the second day.  Amazing, amazing, the highest level of anything, the maaseh Bereishis, nissim of nissim, yesh mayayin, Hashem had to let it dry.  From the highest level of creating worlds and worlds, but it didn’t get dry.  The lesson is, Hashem is telling us to do, on any level, just do, asher barah Elokim laasos.

The ohr was first connected to yohm without the idea of time.  Day has many aspects of special accomplishments without the connection of time.

Be inspired, accomplish, use your gift of life.

Have a wonderful Shabbos and a month of true accomplishment.

Parshas Haazinu (5779)

by Mordechai Dolinsky

Our Parsha are words Hashem prepared for us for chizuk.  We should make an attempt to glean that which was intended to inspire us.

We should preserve the loftiness, the inspiration, we attain on Yom Kippur, keeping close to kedusha as much as we can.

This Shabbos we should use as a spiritual preparation for Succos, delving into the true appreciation and responsibility of living with the Shchinah, and to familiarize ourselves with the many Halachic aspects of the Yom Tov.

Have a wonderful, inspiring, uplifting Shabbos.

Parshas Vayelech (5779)

by Mordechai Dolinsky

31:1– “Vayelech Moshe”– the pasuk relates some kind of movement of Moshe. Often it is required of us a definite movement to enter the world of ruchnius of our materialistic surroundings.  How the state of superficiality blinds and making the necessity for the “move”.

We are presently in the great world of aseres yimai tshuva.  How awesome are the spiritual opportunities.

Have a marvelous first Shabbos and uplifting and inspiring days of awe.

Parshas Nitzavim

Parshas Netzavim 5761
By Mordechai Dolinsky

“Atem Nitzavim” — You are standing today before Hashem. It is Erev Rosh Hashana, we are indeed standing before Hashem. Clal Yisroel, the U.S.A., and the world in general this week have lived through an event, an experience, so awesome, that we can simply know that are standing before Hashem.

In such a circumstance — one can not help but feel awed and experience a lacking of the exact words to say and comfort.

In this era of time, we are without the tools of the tactility to visualize and connect to Hashem in the conventional concept and manifestation of a kingdom and royalty. Our present world is void of the real actuality of Malchus.

With our present current events, above the clouds of smoke, dust, rubble, debris, and carnage, immerses the divine royalty, the divine kingdom and the awesome Malchus Shomayim.

This is the last Shabbos of the year. The Rebbe, Rav Avigdor Miller, z”l always inspired us to make this Shabbos a very special one in every way.

May the Shofar and our Teffilos this Rosh Hashana completely turn over the Middos Hadin to Rachabim Rabim, and bring with it the blessings of the most wonderful prosperous happiest year.

Good Shabbos

Parshas Matosa-Masai (5778)

by Mordechai Dolinsky

The Torah placed the major part of the decision making of nedarim and shvuos of women through the father/husband approval.  There is a female tendency because of extra enthusiasm and concern for the correct fulfillment of the Torah, our service to Hashem, to reinforce it with nedarim and shvuos.  As a check for extreme overbalance the Torah placed the more level-headed father/husband as an overseer.

As a zchus for our relating to the Churban and the galus of the Shchinah we should be zocheh to see the geulah sh’layma bikorov.

Have a meaningful Chodesh and fulfilling Shabbos.

Parshas Pinchas (5778)

by Mordechai Dolinsky

The sedra begins with the great difficulty that Pinchas saved Klal Yisroel from a great hakpadah with the zealousness “kanaim pogim bo”.  What was this great anger and complaint that Klal Yisroel was saved from by Pinhchas?  The only possibility was a great hakpadah on Bnei Yisroel for the manner that they approached Hashem through Zimri.  The confusion and lack of knowing was understandable but approaching Hashem bichvodo through the brazeness of Kozbi was a great wrongdoing and brought a great kitrug.  The manner of approach to Hashem has grreat consequences and demands immense consideration, forethought and awesome respect for which Klal Yisroel was guilty of transgressing and causing the kitrug.  The greatness of the act of Pinchas achieved forgiveness for Klal Yisroel and the status of kehuna for himself.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

Parshas Balak 5778

Parshas Balak (5778)

by Mordechai Dolinsky

A tremendous ‘peleh’ in the parsha 20.22–Balak makes a second request of Bilaam , Hashem commands Bilam: Kum Lech Itam.  This is followed immediately by Hashem’s anger for Bilam’s going.  This is so difficult to understand after specific instructions to go.  Bilam’s reply seems to superficially fair enough, stay over and wait for the Heavenly reply.  At this point Bilam was guilty of a terrible sin that goes unnoticed.  When the repeated request to Bilam was made there was no basis of consideration of a change.  Bilam’s reaction had to be a  very clearly and outspoken negative reply; it would be a great sin even to think of making a second request to harm Klal Yisroel.

At this point he was given the Divine order to go with them followed by the Divine anger for his going.  This is totally confusing which we can say was the beginning of the Divine punishment placed on him.  Perhaps the episode being held guilty for striking the donkey, something he couldn’t have seen was also part of this punishment.

We should always pray for clarity from Hashem.
