Parshas Mishpatim (5772)
by Mordechai Dolinsky

In 23:3 Hashem reveals to Klal Yisroel that they will be blessed with a Malach which will lead, accompany and protect them in their journey and grand entrance into Eretz Yisroel. The physical connection to this malach was very real for they were commanded to be obedient and subservient to him. The actual manifestation was a very subtle, delicate communication that one had to merit to receive and to hear.

Many of us today have these communications from malachim that are sent. Listen to them, listen to them; feel special that you were deemed worthy to hear them. It is guiding you through life, a subtle voice. Follow it with the great recognition it deserves and humbly thank Hashem for being chosen.

Have a wonderful Shabbos and a good Chodesh.

Yisro comes to bask in the holiness of Klal Yisroel and immediately offers his advice. Why din”t Moshe Rabeinue himself have this insight? Moshe was on an awesomely high level of divaikus, connection with Hashem. It w as because of this greatness that he wasn’t aware.

Sometimes we in our own way attempt to have an intensive divaikus. We must, however, at the same time, keep our awareness of people and their feelings in our surroundings.

Have a wonderful, meaningful Shabbos.

Parshas Beshalach (5772)

Rashi at the beginning of Beshalach (13:18) in his explanation of “Vachamushim” using the expression l’saber es haozen and it is not clear whether he meant that Klal Yisroel went out with an actual arsenal of battle equipment or the pasuk just mentions for some reason but not to say that in reality they were equipped.

Perhaps we can offer an insight to the meaning of the pasuk in a way of a literal translation based on the depth of reality that since the real and actual tool that was used in the battle against Amalek was the intensive concentration of ‘ain od milvado’ which was the emuna and bitachon in Hashem. Accordingly, in the true sense of the word ‘chamushim’ yatzu– they went out prepared — Klal Yisroel was certainly equipped with the emuna and bitachon which was their true tool.

Rashi offers an alternate seemingly unrelated explanation of ‘chamushim’ alluding to the fact only one out of five actually went out of Mitzrayim, the others were deemed unworthy among other things for their lack of belief. Perhaps we can say now that if not for the fact that they were Divinely prevented from going out, they would have joined the believers, and they would have nullified the true tool of battle which was the firm belief of the faithful. What this amounts to is that the seemingly unrelated perush of Chazal is really one with Rashi’s first pshat — shnayhem olim b’koneh echad.

Have a wonderful week and success in all your endeavors.

The tzivuy for Chag HaPesach given in our sedra (12:17) the pasuk says “ki b’etzem hayom hazeh yatzasem”–I took you out; what an awesome peleh, here they are sitting in Egypt, waiting for a seemingly impossible miracle and they are given a command to celebrate it as if it happened. As an explanation we can say that they merited to be redeemed for that very reason, the emnuah and bitachon had to be so real as though it had actually already happened and through that they were worthy for it to happen.

We should be zocheh to see our geulah sh’laym b’karov and have a wonderful Shabbos.

Our whole belief, faith and gratitude to HaShem is based on yetzias mitzrayim, which means the 10 makos. We must visualize them clearly and delve into their simple and deep lessons. This we must do the whole year but during these sedros we must rejuvenate our understanding of their meaning and significance. This the oxygen of our avodas Hashem. How can we serve Hashem truthfully without it?

Have a wonderful Shabbos and good Chodesh.

In our parsha, Yaakov Avinu allocated the brachos to each and every Shevet according to their characteristics and kochos hanefesh. We must cry and pray to Hashem that He should enlighten us to fulfill the purpose of our coming to this world according to the essence of our ability and our neshama. This should be our utmost yearning.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

It is noteworthy that from the moment that Yosef revealed himself to his brothers (45:3) for the next pesukim we don’t hear a word from them “V’lo yachlu” — the brothers were not able to react verbally.

When exposed to the real truth; the real truth–one is shocked. In the event of Klal Yisroel and in our own personal lives things happen. The real absolute truth is so hidden, so far, that when it is finally revealed we are in absolute shock and in silence and awe. If we understand this we would be more objectively aggressive in our search for the real truth.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

Yosef Hatzaddik was able to achieve all his awesome accomplishment in having insight into Paroh’s dreams and everything that followed by keeping and intensive focus on the presence of Hashem in the world beneath the apparent surface. This was the true key to success of the Chashmonaim’s victory over the Greeks and bringing a great light to Klal Yisroel.

We should all be worthy of this recognition. Have a wonderful Shabbos and Chanukah.

The wife of Potifar with her false accusations against Yosef HaTzaddik recognized in him true traits for his potential to reach heights of greatness and by having him imprisoned, a situation of the epitome of lowness, meant to sabotage any hope for the realization of his potential. As it turned out his imprisonment turned out to be the tool by which he reached the greatest level that a person could reach, second only to Paroah. Rabos machshavos b’lev ish…. The goyim through the generations attempt to destroy us and the Torah and it turns out to be the source of our greatest glory.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

Eisav has an awesome hatred for Yaakov and is coming towards him with an army set out for destruction– and kisses Yaakov with love. Yaakov has fulfilled the Will of Hashem and everything works out. His learning, his davening, his tznius, and guarding the tznius of his wives and daughter; the whole deal and Yaakov is a success.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.
