Parshas Tzav-Shabbos HaGadol (5772)
by Mordechai Dolinsky

In our parshas we have the elaborate dedication of the Mishkan. This can be appreciated considering that the Mishkan had the awesome mechanism to deliver the sacrifices of Klal Yisroel to Hashem.

Appreciating this even more deeply, the korbanos really signified the Klal Yisroel actually sacrificing themselves, their living bodies, to Hashem. How awesome. Such a mechanism and responsibility.

Shabbos HaGadol — On Shabbos we are mekabel strength and hashpaah for the following week. This week, lail Pesach, we receive the greatest gift of the revelation of Hashem for the whole year; indeed–Shabbos HaGadol. Let’s connect to Hashem and yetzias Mitzrayim and make ourselves a kli for this precious gift.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

The essence of Amalek has become so clear, obvious and over powering
in the present times. “Asher Korcha”—coldness; a callousness and lack of real personal connection to all our relationships. Timche es zecher Amalek—break the barriers and connect to all our Yiddishe neshamos.

The first Rashi the parsha explains that tzav is an expression of ziruz; for immediate and future generations.  This week in the course of the lail haseder we all resemble in a way the Kohain in his avoda in the Bais Hamikdash.  It is imperative that we prepare ourselves these days intensively for the awesome avoda of the seder night.

In light of the shocking turmoil of the current events these days it is imperative to strengthen ourselves in emuna and bitachon which is the true avoda of the days of this month of Nissan anyway.

Hashem should protect us and we should see the ultimate redemption.

Have a wonderful, meaningful Shabbos and Chag Kasher V’Sameach.

What an awesome Shabbos we have before us – all the blessing of the week are contained in it and this is the week in which takes place the greatest revelation of the Creator; the epitome and the highest.

The name of the parsha “Tzav” is equally apropo.  The insight to Hashem’s revelation must not be sufficed by philosophical conclusions but must motivate and inspire us to “Tzav”  — to the absolute commitment and fulfillment of the Will of Hashem.  This is manifested in the realistic fulfillment of Torah and Mitzvos.

Have a wonderful Shabbos and Chag Kasher V’Sameach.

Parshas Tzav – Purim Meshulash

The deep significance and depth of the salvation that came about in the time of Purim was the commitment of Klal Yisroel for mesiras nefesh, the willingness to give their lives for the fulfillment of the will of Hashem.  This is likewise the theme of parshas Tzav, the korban olah which is also an inner commitment to be sacrificed for the Will of Hashem.   This is the mindset of Klal Yisroel until this very day to be willing to sacrifice ourselves for kavod shomayim.

We should merit all the brachos of Purim in gashmius and ruchnius and see the revelation of kovod shomayim.

Have a good Shabbos and happy Purim.

On Shabbos our Sages inform us that we receive the inner strength for all that follows in the coming week.  This is the week of the celebration of Pesach, the great foundation of our serving Hashem, the renewal of the miracles of yetzias mitzrayim.  This makes it very appropo to call it Shabbos Hagadol.

The Medrash in our sedra (9:7) that in the future all the sacrifices will be batel except for the korban todah, the sacrifice for gratitude;  this is the foundation of all our service of Hashem, the basis of all our successful human relationships.  This ties everything together—Shabbos Hagadol and the parsha.

Have a wonderful Shabbos and a chag kasher v’sameach.

The Medrash in our sedra (17) quotes the Chazal that for the sin of lashon harah there is not atonement.  The Torah however comes through with a source of forgiveness—the clanging sound of the bells on the “me-il” of the Kohain.  For the absolute devastation and damage of lashon hara there is no “kappara”.  With the subtle sound of the bells on the garment of the Kohain the Torah creates a kappara.  The Kohain has no control—involuntary sounds from his movement.  Perhaps the anguish of not being in control of the sound brings the kappara.  The powerful message is the awesome seriousness of lashon hara.

Every Shabbos is a reinforcement of emuna; this Shabbos we receive the strength for the seder, the epitome of the source of emuna.  Perhaps this is an explanation for the name Shabbos HaGadol.

Have a wonderful Shabbos.

The Medrash in our parsha 9-7 calls out that only the korban todah is forever.  This proclaims the supremacy of gratitude.  The miracle of Purim came about through the gratitude that even Achashverosh had to Mordechai.  I hope that we get the point.

A frelichen Purim wherever you are and a wonderful Shabbos.

In the Medrash (10:6) of our parsha there is a Chazal that the attire of the Kohanim is atonement for sins equivalent to the sacrifices.  The message is that what we wear is an integral part of serving Hashem.  In every generation there is a form of dress that identifies us as Clal Yisroel, the nation of Torah observant Jews.  We should embrace that form of dress to identify ourselves with our loyalty to Hashem.

On Shabbos HaGadol we are recipients of great spiritual gifts.  In its week we are recipients of the most important date of the calendar for the acquisition of Emunah; the night of the seder and rest of Pesach.  The night of the seder and Pesach are our source of faith.

It is absolutely crucial to prepare during the next few days.
Study the Haggadah—Learn Chazal and Medrashim pertaining to Yetzias Mitzrayim—Get ample rest in order to utilize every moment of the night of the seder until dawn.

Have a wonderful Shabbos and we should be zocheh to see the Geulah Sh’layma Bikarov.
